Interview With Ms. Jane Clark

Stories Around the Lake-Interview With Jane Clark

Jane Clark is a woman whose family has been involved with the Cooperstown community for quite a long time. Her first relative to come was Edward Clark, who came in the early 1840s. She says that he wrote many letters about how beautiful Cooperstown was with their lake, and the land around the lake. Her first relatives had written also about how they wanted to preserve its beauty for others to enjoy. They help to protect Otsego Lake by purchasing land around it. She also supports the Biological Field Station and their efforts in protecting what is good in the lake and getting rid of what is dangerous for the lake’s well-being.

Her favorite place outside the village is the lake, which she has a camp on. She enjoys going out early in a kayak, which she describes in this interview. She speaks about how it is wonderful to go out at 6:30 in the morning. She tells that the water is still, and only the birds are with you, and that it is just a wonderful sight.

Finally, One of the best stories she tells is from when she was young. She was four, and it was Christmas. When she got downstairs, “My parents literally had a pony under the tree”, which is pretty incredible. She goes on to say that her parents, for Christmas, had gotten a small gray pony. Finally, to wrap him up, they put a big red bow on his forelock and put him under the tree.

That is a quick summary of this amazing interview with Jane Clark. If you want to hear some more

stories, please feel free to listen to part or all of this interview.
